She was born May 2, 1935 in Mauston, WI, to Clarence and Maxine (Crouch) Markgraf. Clarice was a graduate of Elroy High School in Elroy, WI. She was united in marriage to Rodney Zirk, and together they lived in southern Wisconsin, around Janesville. They were later divorced. Clarice later was united in marriage to Arthur “Bud” Phillips on January 21, 1989 in Sparta, WI. While living in Black River Falls, she worked as a volunteer for the Jackson County Historical Society, in the History Room. Clarice had a great passion for History and Genealogy, she also enjoyed going to garage sales and going out to eat. She was a member of DAR (Daughters of American Revolution), Jackson County Historical Society, along with many other counties.Clarice is survived by her children: Richard Zirk of Pigeon Falls, WI, Ronald (Susan) Zirk and Robin (Lori) Zirk, both of Janesville, WI, Rian (Kathy) Zirk of Rockford, IL, Cynthia Jordan and Corina Zirk, both of Janesville, WI; step children, James (Areka) Phillips of Onalaska, WI, and Susan Phillips of La Crosse, WI; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; step grandchildren; and step great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol Genz of Beloit, WI, and Joyce Evans of Oviedo, FL; other nieces; nephews; relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; parents, Clarence and Maxine; stepmothers; and two stepbrothers.Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2016, 1 p.m., at Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls, WI. Reverend Linda Marlett will be officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Black River Falls. Family and friends are invited for visitation Thursday, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
